Graphic Work

After all it is all about design when it comes to architecture. As an architecture graduate, designing has been my first passion. What I have learned from my design learning and how I have used my design skills?

Design is a product of a creative process. To me, being creative in the process of design means to produce an alternative product–and I mean a product that is different–that we can enjoy. In order for other people to enjoy this alternative product, we need to be able to communicate it. The bottom line is how to think creatively [differently] and how to communicate what we think so that the public know and enjoy the values that we believe in.

Most of my architecture works was done as a private practice, where I did not have any consulting firm affiliation in the past. It was more with friends and (extended) family members. My architecture work focuses on residential design. Among other things is because I have a different way of valuing a client-owner relationship. And I just think that working on a small scale design would allow me to build and to enjoy the kind of value I consider important. It is my hope that by the time I finish my graduate study, I would like to continue working on designing residential building, perhaps I can start with my own residence first.

Now how to communicate these design values and ideas that I have learned? That is how my skills in the area of graphic design, publishing, web design, and photography come in handy. Graphic design and publishing are probably common skills to many individuals. I have mostly used Adobe software package (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator).

Sharing some design values, web design and photography require slightly different processes. I have developed websites from scratch using Dreamweaver at that time. In addition to learning html and css, which is very basic in web design, I have also used PHP, Javascript, and MySQL codes when I developed websites to add more dynamics. I am now increasingly using content management system software package such as Drupal and WordPress. This personal website was originally started in Drupal but after a few years I decided to use WordPress for some practical reasons.

Photography is a different area and is relatively more costly. That is why I have decided to focus right away on family, children, and portrait photography so that I can limit myself and be specific on what kind of camera gears I need to purchase. And, I don’t have to worry about looking for objects since they are just literally around the house, my own family. The following is a list of my camera gears. For my photos, you can see them through my flickr account.
